As vacuum technology continues to improve, many vacuum manufacturers (Dyson for one) have come to believe that the cordless stick vacuum is the cleaning device of the future.
However, the cordless vacuum market requires even more research before a purchase than a regular bagless vacuum might.
This is because the inclusion of a battery (rather than a cord attached to a wall outlet) drastically impacts the performance and utility of any vacuum.
As you’ll see on this list, sometimes the brands thought of as “reliable” can be a let-down. And sometimes the brands you’ve never even heard of can provide you the best value!

SharkNinja Navigator Freestyle Upright Stick Cordless Bagless Vacuum
About the SharkNinja Navigator Freestyle
SharkNinja is one of the “big-boys” in the vacuum world, and generally, one can expect quality out of a SharkNinja vacuum.
The SharkNinja Navigator Freestyle, at first glance, looks like a bargain.
A cordless SharkNinja at an affordable price? Surely this is the best value vacuum one can buy?
Unfortunately, we’ve included this vacuum as a cautionary tale, rather than a serious suggestion.
This vacuum demonstrates the importance of research before a purchase.
The SharkNinja Navigator Freestyle is advertised as powerful and lightweight, with an XL dustbin, swivel steering, strong suction power, and an extended run-time.
However, it falls short of the mark in most regards.
We won’t waste too much of your time reviewing a below-average machine.
This machine’s inclusion was a demonstration that just because a vacuum comes from a trusted name brand, doesn’t always mean it will be a great purchase.
Buyers of this particular SharkNinja have complained about poor cleaning performance, the battery dying after only a few months, and the list goes on.
Further down on this list we will take a look at a cordless SharkNinja that is one of the best cordless vacuums on the market.
But as for the SharkNinja Navigator Freestyle, despite its popularity, we would warn against purchasing.
ONSON Stick Vacuum Cleaner
About the ONSON Stick Vacuum
The ONSON Stick Vacuum is the very first on our list, and a bit of an anomaly.
If you were to base your research off of the amazon reviews, the ONSON would quickly become one of the vacuums you’d seriously consider buying.
After all, it has an average Amazon rating of 4.8/5 stars, and it seems to be jam-packed with features, and overall a strong performer.
However, ONSON has a notorious online reputation of being very hit-or-miss with their products.
The ONSON is advertised as having a replaceable HEPA filter, flexible vacuum head, mountable charging base, 45 minute run-time, interchangeable vacuum brushes, and a few other attachments.
And most people seem to think it’s cleaning performance is well above average for this price range, however, there are also a few reviews that complain about the vacuum’s suction strength.
Overall, the vacuum seems to be a great value product, but there are some worries.
We don’t know how to feel about the ONSON Stick Vacuum Cleaner.
It seems like a machine capable of bringing huge value, at a great price point. But our general fear of Amazon sellers with bad reputations would indicate to maybe stay away from this one.
With the potential to be a great bargain vacuum, the ONSON Stick Vacuum Cleaner could be a hit out of the park, or it very well could be a huge letdown.
While most seem to love it, we’d recommend spending a little more for something with a better warranty, and reliable customer service.
Hoover Linx Cordless Stick Vacuum
About the Hoover Linx
Hoover is a brand that has developed one of the most time-tested reputations in the vacuum industry.
The Hoover Linx is one of their most well-received cordless vacuums and is of particular interest to those looking for a more traditionally sized vacuum (the ‘stick’ vacuum trend isn’t for everyone).
The Hoover Linx has removable, interchangeable batteries, a feature that is great for those times you want to give your entire home a clean without having to stop to charge your cordless device.
Some other interesting features are the extreme recline handle, and the edge cleaning bristles which allow you to reach under furniture and clean right up to your baseboards.
We also really like how the power controls are positioned right at the handle, for easy adjusting.
There is also a convenient battery life gauge.
When it comes to cleaning performance, the Hoover Linx is adequate. It is useful for minor cleanups and in general will leave your floors mostly-clean.
It won’t blow you away, but at a very affordable price it gets the job done.
We like the Hoover Linx as an affordable cordless vacuum.
It doesn’t have the same attachments or utility as many of the other units on this list, but for small floor cleanups, and daily maintenance, it does a decent job.
While the Hoover Linx is generally lauded online, some users have complained that the warranty can be tricky. Others have also complained about the longevity of the device, saying that it is unlikely the vacuum will surpass 2 years of use.
Overall, the Hoover Linx is a cheap, but decent, option for those looking for a cordless vacuum.
But if you’re looking for a truly great option, keep reading.
About the Tineco A10
We have already reviewed the Tineco A10 in our “Best Bagless Vacuum Cleaner” article, but we will briefly recap the machine here.
Tineco is a brand that most are only vaguely familiar with, but with the Tineco A10 the company has checked most of the boxes that any cordless vacuum buyer is looking for.
The company has also released a Tineco A11 which minorly upgrades on what the A10 offers. However, the price of an A11 is on par with most Dyson V-series, while the A10 is much more affordable, and provides much more value.
We believe the A10 is perhaps the ‘Best Value” cordless vacuum on the market.
It comes packed with great attachments and accessories, such as an extra detachable battery, a storehouse for all the pieces, and many different vacuum head attachments.
The vacuum is also convertible to a handheld device, and includes a dual-pin adapter, allowing you to charge the battery, and its backup, at the same time.
We also really like the lights on each attachment head for cleaning in areas where light doesn’t really reach.
The cleaning performance was better than expected, and the Tineco A10 overall was a pleasant surprise.
We highly recommend anyone seriously interested in the Tineco A10 read our more in-depth review of the machine, found HERE.
But as a quick summary, we really like the Tineco A10, and we believe at its current price offering, with all of its great utility, it is the “Best Value” cordless vacuum on the market.
About the Dyson V8
We have already reviewed the Dyson V8 in our “Best Bagless Vacuum Cleaner” article, but we will briefly recap the machine here.
Just as we’ve seen with the Tineco A10, sometimes it makes more sense to buy a previous generation of machine, as it provides better value per $ spent.
The Dyson V8 is one of the very best cordless vacuums available, and as Dyson continues to roll out new lines or versions, the V8 will only continue to get cheaper. That is good news for consumers as the V8 is still a great machine, even if it is not new.
The Dyson V8 (as is the case with most Dyson vacuums) is easy to use, packed with function, and performs very well.
It comes with 7 attachment head and accessories, all of which have unique functions and uses.
The Dyson V8 also has an incredible docking/charging station which can be mounted on the wall, and its cleaning performance exceeds most of the machines on this list.
As we’ve seen with the V8, newer isn’t always better, at least when it comes to value.
Maybe the new generation is a better machine, but you shouldn’t be scared to purchase the Dyson V8 just because it is not new.
The Dyson V8 does pretty much everything well.
The few downsides it has, such as cost, or the lack of a removable battery, are pretty heavily outweighed by all the benefits of the machine.
Again, if you’re looking for more info on the Dyson V8 specifically, there is more information to be found in the “Best Bagless Vacuum” article, found here.
Dyson V10 Absolute
About the Dyson V10 Absolute
While we have stated many times that the Dyson V8 is perhaps the best value Dyson V-series, we have to admit the Dyson V10 is the better machine. It just happens to also be much more expensive.
The Dyson V10 has been tested against other cord-free vacuums, and Dyson claims that the V10 has the best suction of any cordless vacuum.
Now, suction and cleaning performance are different things, but the Dyson V10 doesn’t let down in either category.
The Dyson V10 has a bigger dustbin, and a longer battery life than its predecessor.
If that isn’t enough, it comes with two different roller heads, a torque-drive head for carpets, and a smooth roller head for hardwood or tile.
These two heads, along with the multiple attachments, means the V10 will not let you down on any surface, no matter how hard to reach.
The V10 also comes with the capability to convert to a handheld vacuum and can be hung on the same design convenient docking station as the V8.
Cleaning performance and ease-of-use are best-in-class with the Dyson V10 absolute.
This is a machine that can do no wrong.
The Dyson V10 Absolute is an absolutely incredible cordless vacuum. We wish it had a removable battery, as most of Dyson’s competitors now do. However, that is our one and only complaint with the function of the machine.
Our biggest overall downside for the V10 is the cost.
The Dyson V10 is in fact so expensive that it is an impossible purchase for most people, and it is for that reason that we seriously suggest the cheaper Dyson V8 to cordless vacuum searchers.
But we have to also warn that there really isn’t a cordless vacuum on the market that can match the Dyson V10 in so many regards. And Dyson knows that, hence the hefty price.
However, as we have said before, if budget is not an issue you cannot go wrong with the Dyson V10 absolute, our pick for “Best Overall Cordless Vacuum”.

SharkNinja DuoClean Cordless Ultra-Light Vacuum
About the SharkNinja DuoClean
Earlier on this list, we demonstrated the importance of research before purchasing a vacuum by taking a glance at the SharkNinja Navigator Freestyle.
Now, we’ll show that SharkNinja still is a fantastic vacuum maker.
The SharkNinja DuoClean is perhaps our second favorite vacuum overall.
This is a great vacuum, and a great looking vacuum.
The DuoClean has “multiFLEX” technology which allows the vacuum to bend in the middle of the device, making it incredibly easy to reach under furniture and cabinets.
The DuoClean is also incredibly intuitive. It is on par with Dyson when it comes to ease-of-use and overall build quality.
The buttons to switch cleaning modes are all right at your fingertips, as seen above.
All the pieces click together seamlessly, and the DuoClean does have attachments, including a 2-in-1 crevice tool, dusting brush, and a wide upholstery tool.
Another feature we love is the detachable battery, something that the Dyson does not feature.
The vacuum can be used as a hand-device by detaching the wand, or you can leave the wand on to clean those out-of-reach areas.
The DuoClean vacuum brush works in a very similar way to Dyson’s Smooth Roller Head, and when it comes to cleaning performance, the DuoClean is just about on par with the Dyson V10.
The DuoClean is perhaps a little bit better at picking up dog hair and other tricky messes, but the Dyson still has the DuoClean beat in overall usefulness and cleaning.
The DuoClean, however, is still an absolutely exceptional cleaning device.
The SharkNinja DuoClean is basically the exact opposite of the earlier listed Navigator Freestyle.
It just works.
It cleans exceptionally well, and it is incredibly easy, and dare I say fun, to use.
It is also easy to store, which is an added bonus.
Our first complaint with the device is the incredibly small dustbin, which will require constant emptying throughout a long clean. Good thing it is easy to empty!
The second complaint is the issue of battery life, and difficult charging. Battery life is about average for cordless vacuums, but unfortunately the long charging time means that purchasing a second battery will almost become a necessity if you want to use the DuoClean to vacuum your whole home.
Nonetheless, the DuoClean is without a doubt the second best overall cordless vacuum on the market, and much cheaper than its direct competitor – the Dyson V10.
If not for the Tineco A10, the SharkNinja DuoClean would absolutely win our pick for Best Value Vacuum.
For a super in-depth review, check out the video below:
We’ve looked at cordless vacuums, both really good and really bad.
There is a lot to be excited about if you are a tech-head or looking for the next generation of vacuum technology.
Cordless vacuums seem to be the way of the future, and even Dyson have focused their efforts on that market.
That being said, for 2019, we have analyzed the best vacuums that are currently out there.
What we learned with the Tineco A10, is that you don’t always have to spend a lot of money in order to get a quality cordless vacuum.
The Tineco A10 comes packed with performance and features, and for the second time on one of MeccanoHome’s buying guides, it takes home the “Best Value” award.
There can only be one “best”, and when it comes to cordless vacuums, the Dyson V10 Absolute is our pick for “Best Overall” cordless vacuum.
The Dyson V10 is so easy to use and clean.
And when it comes to cleaning, it was best in class thanks to its two different vacuum heads, and overall suction strength.
The Dyson V10 is incredibly expensive, but it won’t let you down.
Finally, our “Honorable Mention” goes to the SharkNinja DuoClean, which is a perfect option for anyone that wants to purchase a “top-of-the-line” vacuum without paying Dyson V10 prices.
The SharkNinja DuoClean is an incredible vacuum that will be able to tackle any mess your home has to offer.
In summary, if you’re looking for huge value for your money, then the Tineco A10 is the vacuum for you.
If you’re looking for the absolute best your money can buy, then the Dyson V10 is the best cordless vacuum out there.
And if you’re looking for performance and technology similar to the Dyson V10, at a much more manageable price, then the SharkNinja DuoClean is one of the very best vacuums on the market.
